Seeing Clearly Through the Camera Lens I love the scents and the artistic ability I see represented in wax. For years I tried my hand at candle making but eventually conceded that buying candles was wiser than trying to make them. I was searching for something else to try when the hobby of photography came into focus. It happened innocently enough when Ellen and I went to Hawaii for our 20th anniversary. We bought a new Minolta camera for the trip, our first 35mm SLR, and some of the pictures I took came out pretty good. It ended up being ‘my’ camera and a window to a world of wonder. I’ve always been appreciative of a grand landscape but through the camera, and especially a large telephoto lens my wife bought me, I found myself fascinated by smaller parts of the whole. Individual petals became as impressive as a field of wild flowers; one person’s smile captivated me more than the faces in a crowd. What started as a hobby spurred entry into a few photo contests and progressed to a line of photographic note cards. But I was really surprised by something else that happened. Spiritual Storytelling Looking through the camera lens I began reading a tale older than nature itself. The marvelous beauty of creation studied through the viewfinder strengthened and confirmed my faith in God as the creator of all I saw. Photography became another way God used to tell one of his children spiritual stories. I could share much more about this hobby and would be glad to answer any questions you might have. However, I think its time to learn about... Your Views and Interests Up to this point, in a little under 300 words (284 to be exact) I’ve touched many different topics. Here’s a partial review.

We would love to have you share your thoughts on any of those subjects, it would make our day. You see, friendships grow when people care enough to listen to one another without always having to have the right opinion. And that’s what The Relational Place is all about, making friends; drawing closer; caring for each other.
