Many people have written passionately about what they believe. Passion however, does not guarantee the reader of truth. People make mistakes and strong convictions have provoked some to lie for their cause. Finding truth takes work on the part of the seeker. A group of Christians in the ancient town of Berea were commended by one of the biblical writers for having great enthusiasm toward learning God’s message to them. They were further praised for not taking what they heard at face value, even though it came from the man who, many believe, was one of the greatest Christians who ever lived. This eagerness to learn and commitment to search out the truth for themselves earned the Bereans the distinctive label of being "more noble than" other people of that time. (Read the passage) So here’s a challenge. Reading a book is like inviting a speaker into your home to discuss something they think is important. Pick one of the books below and order it. Then, start looking forward to it’s arrival and the chance to study what it says. Finally, check it out thoroughly to see if what is written is true. Be a Berean. And remember, we love tough questions. If you come up with one during or after your reading, visit this page to contact us. |
